Opportunity and its twin rover, Spirit, were launched July 7th, 2003 and successfully landed on Mars in January of 2004

though designed for a 90-day expedition, Oppy exceeded all expectations, and continued to explore Mars for over 14 years

on June 10th of 2018, we received our last message from Oppy after it had been caught in a dust storm.

this message was loosely translated to,

“My battery is low, and it’s getting dark.”

after 14 unexpected years, communication was lost, and Opportunity’s mission was finally complete.
