Here’s our 5+ hour journey of making pho from scratch
1. Boil 5 pounds of beef rib and bones in a big pot for 30 mins 2. Drain the water and wash the bones well, then toss them back in the pot and fill the pot all the way with water and start simmering
3. Char some ginger and onions 4. Toast your assorted pho spices. They usually sell these as a package at the asian grocery store
5. Add in your onion, ginger, and spices to your pot and leave on a simmer for at least 3-4 hours but honestly the longer you boil, the more flavorful. We left ours on overnight
6. Once your broth looks golden colored and clear, add in some salt, fish sauce, and rock sugar to season the broth
7. Now, you’re ready to plate your bowl! Cook your noodles and add in your sliced beef, broth, basil, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Enjoy!!!
